4th ASEAN Blue Economy Forum: Charting a Sustainable Future for ASEAN

The 4th ASEAN Blue Economy Forum brought together policymakers, senior officials, experts, and stakeholders to advance cooperation on one of the region’s most important emerging priorities—the sustainable development of its oceans, seas, and freshwater resources.

The forum highlighted the growing importance of the Blue Economy as a driver of economic growth, innovation, investment, environmental protection, and sustainable livelihoods for communities across Southeast Asia.
Discussions centered on strengthening regional cooperation and turning the ASEAN Blue Economy agenda into concrete programs and investments. Key areas include sustainable fisheries, marine and coastal resources, blue innovation, infrastructure, trade, tourism, and climate-resilient development.

For ASEAN, the Blue Economy represents more than environmental protection. It is an opportunity to create jobs, support coastal communities, encourage responsible business, and build a more resilient regional economy while protecting vital marine ecosystems.

The 4th ASEAN Blue Economy Forum reaffirmed the region’s commitment to balancing economic development with sustainability—and to ensuring that the immense resources of the blue economy benefit present and future generations.

The Social SCENE PH continues to bring readers closer to important regional events shaping the Philippines and Southeast Asia.
